Project "Open Communities – Open Media"

The European Union project "Open Communities - Open Media" held a final conference on December 15, in Bishkek on the topic "Social partnership between the authorities, civil society and the media." During press conference which was organized for the media the results of the two-year activity on all components of the project were summed up.

The guests were presented with a theatrical performance "forum-theater", video and photographic material, as well as an interactive program, within a quiz was held on the platform https://kahoot.com/.

An “open microphone” was provided for the participants on the topic “Let's talk with the audience” and the best success stories of the mini-grant component of Osh, Chui and Naryn regions were announced.

In addition, the invited guests took part in the site-event organized by the GSI Institute (Germany) with experts from Kazakhstan, Germany and Kyrgyzstan on the topic “Challenges and opportunities in the development of civil society”. Kudaibergen Bazarbayev the Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic in his speech said that small public councils at the local level are an effective bridge for interaction with government bodies, civil organizations to address pressing issues in the regions on a systematic basis.

The head of the information policy department of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Sarnogoeva Salkyn emphasized the importance of interaction between the media and civil society in order to activate the involvement in the development and implementation of social programs, as well as to prevent the spread of manifestations of extremism, hate speech and intolerance.

The activists noted that Kyrgyzstan starts from the regions. Small public councils are needed as a relevant and effective movement to advance the interests of citizens on the ground.

In addition, at the event there were speeches of the project coordinator Bashtovenko S.N., the head of the Akyikatchy Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Azarbekov A.N, Chairman of the Coordination Board of the State Bodies Public Councils Abdyrov T.S., media expert Ismanov A. and other partners.

In general, the conference participants came to the conclusion that civil society represented by public councils, civic organizations, state and municipal authorities and the media should establish systematic work on topical areas of public control in problematic issues in all areas, including ensuring state information policy.

Besides, after discussing the conditions, problems and prospects of partnership, a resolution was developed.

At the end of the event, partners and active project participants received letters of gratitude.
