Project "Open Communities – Open Media"

The European Union project «Open Communities - Open Media» held the event for the winners of the "Open Kyrgyzstan 2021" contest for journalists. The awarding ceremony dedicated to the Day of Information and Press of Kyrgyzstan.  

The event took place on 05 November 2021 in the Sheraton Hotel in Bishkek as part of the Annual Partner Media Conference. There were 113 participants.

An independent competition committee was established to select five winners from seven regions of the Kyrgyz Republic, based on the results of a competition for journalists, which was announced in September 2021 and the nominations and winners are:

  1. Vlad Ushakov from the Public Association of Photojournalists was awarded in the nomination "The best creative work in reporting regional problems" for a series of materials.
  2. In the nomination "The best work on the promotion of freedom of speech, human rights, as well as the protection of the rights of vulnerable people in the Kyrgyz Republic" was awarded to Nurjamal Bargybaeva, journalist of the Public TV and Radio Channel Yntymak in Osh city, for a series of materials.
  3. The 24.kg team of Maria Orlova, Tatiana Kudryavtseva, Gulmira Makanbai kyzy and Nadezhda Khabichevskaya was awarded in the nomination "Best work on covering the COVID-19 pandemic in Kyrgyzstan"
  4. In the nomination "The best work covering the problems of one village and/or region", represented by the authors Aibike Adilet kyzy and Khamidullo Uzakov of the Kyrgyz Kloop.kg in Osh was awarded for a series of materials.
  5. The Jalal-Abad Regional Media Center was awarded in the nomination "Best work of a regional Media Center" for the material by journalist Azhymamatova Baktykan.
