Project "Strengthening Civil Society Participation in Public Councils in Kyrgyzstan"

 

Small Grant Programme launched

Bishkek/Bonn, 3 March 2018

Hereby appreciating all applicants and their partners for their high interest and active participation in the Call for Proposals, the EU co-funded Project “Strengthening Civil Society Participation in Public Councils in Kyrgyzstan” is happy to announce the results of the Call for Proposals within the framework of its Small Grants Programme.

From a total of 58 applications received, 9 proposals have been selected and will be implemented between March and June 2018. Results of the projects selected will be presented at a conference to be held after the implementation phase.

  1. Title: Strengthening the role of Public Council of the KR Ministry of Labour and Social Development in increasing the quality of governmental services
    Target area: Bishkek, Chui, Djalal-Abad and Issyk-Kul regions
    Applicant: Public Fund "Global Changes Foundation"
    Partner: Public Council of the KR Ministry of Labour and Social Development
    Brief description: Project will strengthen capacity and influence of Public Council of the KR Ministry of Labour and Social Development on improving the quality of governmental services provided in nursing homes.
  2. Title: Strengthening capacity of Public Council of the KR Ministry of Education and Science to engage and build relationships with media and civil society and improve interaction between them
    Target area: Bishkek, Osh
    Applicant: Institution "Bulan Institute for Peace innovation"
    Partners: Public Council of the KR Ministry of Education and Science; ELTR State TV & Radio Company
    Brief description: Project will contribute to solve the “burning” issues in school education sector through building a multi-stakeholder-based dialogue and developing networking tools for Public Council, media and civil society.
  3. Title: Identification of efficiency tools for activity of Public Council of the KR Ministry of Economy
    Target area: Countrywide
    Applicant: Association of legal bodies "Union of Educational Institutions"
    Partner: Public Council of the KR Ministry of Economy
    Brief description: Project will optimize the activity of Public Council of the KR Ministry of Economy through promotion of civil initiatives as a driving force for making quality decisions by the Ministry of Economy and forming a culture of being responsible to citizens and authority both at central and local levels.
  4. Title: Facilitation of effective performance of Public Councils of Governmental Bodies at central and local levels
    Target area: Talas region
    Applicant: Public Fund "Centre of Legal and Analytical Support for Local Self-Governance"
    Partner: Public Council of the KR State Agency for Local Self-Governance and Interethnic Relations
    Brief description: Project will ensure the quality of social services provided by local self-government bodies to communities through reinforcing a civil engagement in performance of Public Councils at both central and local levels.
  5. Title: Open Civil Platform
    Target area: Countrywide
    Applicant: Public Fund "Open Institute of Social Policy"
    Partner: Network of Small Public Councils
    Brief description: Project will strengthen the influence of Small/City/Regional Public Councils on local decision-making processes through their enforced activities and institutional capacity building.
  6. Title: Fight against corruption in local self-government bodies through Small Public Councils
    Target area: Issyk-Kul region
    Applicant: Public Association “Rural Life”
    Partner: Karakol City Public Council
    Brief description: Project will strengthen social partnerships aimed at increasing the role of civil society in ensuring transparency for performance of local authorities.
  7. Title: Ensuring transparency and dialogue between regional governmental bodies and local communities to increase environmental safety and mitigate resource-based conflicts
    Target area: Djalal-Abad region
    Applicant: Public Assoсiation "Centre of strategizing budget process"
    Partners: Rayon newspaper “Ayil Akyikaty”; Ala-Buka College
    Brief description: Project will increase civil engagement in local decision-making processes to prevent environmental pollution and mitigate natural-resource-based conflicts.
  8. Title: Creating network of small public councils in Naryn region
    Target area: Naryn region
    Applicant: Public Assoсiation "Naryn Centre for Economic Development"
    Partner: Small Public Council of Atbashy rayon, Naryn region
    Brief description: Project will improve public-private partnerships at community-based level through promotion of small public councils as efficient mechanisms of interaction between local self-government bodies and local people
  9. Title: Public Councils as a civil and public platform for a dialogue with local authorities
    Target area: Batken region
    Applicant: Public Fund "Insan-Leilek"
    Partners: Small Public Councils of Leilek rayon
    Brief description: Project will develop and introduce a model of well-functioning and sustainable Small Public Council through piloting PR tools and online technologies and ensuring media support.
